Respect Life Committee
![]() |
"Each parish is to have a Respect Life Committee." This was said by the U. S. Bishops in 1975, perceiving serious danger to vulnerable lives and our social structure.
We are assigned the areas of: prayer, information, caring and activism. Each year, information on various topics and prayer suggestions is sent directly to committees. While there is a natural emphasis on abortion, topics as varied as the importance of families or on international human trafficking have been included. Much information is available in the Gospel of Life display, in which changes are made weekly. Please stop to see this.
A major emphasis at Queen of Peace is on helping crisis pregnancy centers -- Lake Superior Life Care Center and Birthright -- through several activities each year.
Information requires learning. Study efforts have included embryonic stem cell research and medical directives, much in the Bishops’ mailings and in the news. All are invited to any activities, including the meetings listed in the bulletins.
