Classes for grades 1-6 are held on Wednesday evenings from 6:15-7:15 p.m. The textbook series used is Faith First. This series will provide children with an understanding of our faith based on the four pillars of the Catechism – Creed, Sacraments, Morality and Prayer.
Many volunteers make this program possible. If you would like to help as a catechist, classroom assistant, office helper, baby sitter for parent meetings, or hall monitors, we’d love to hear from you.
To volunteer or for any questions, please contact Faith Formation Director, Irene Mckay at 879-6793, ext 17.
****Note: There is a change in the schedule below. First Confession for 2nd grade will be on Sat., Dec. 10th, 9-11 a.m. (not on Dec. 14th).****

Sacramental Preparation for "Out of Sequence" Students
When the child is older than second grade, please provide a proof of baptism with the request for the sacraments.
We will provide age appropriate resources (books and videos). We will also provide a session (more if needed) to help the adults with any concerns they may have as teachers of our faith.
We would encourage parents/or grandparents to be responsible for the education, but if they would prefer, we will find someone willing to work with their child.
A time frame for going through the materials will be provided. In general, we would hope that the child would be prepared to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation with the service for First Reconciliation (grade 2) or with their classmates as they celebrate this sacrament in Advent.
Concerning First Communion, the children would have the option of receiving the sacrament during the parish celebration of First Communion or at another time, as long as it was prearranged with the pastor. Readiness for the sacrament will be determined by an interview of the child (parents are welcome to attend). Parents should request this interview in a timely fashion so that an appointment can be set up at a time convenient for all involved. This interview will be conducted by the pastor or D.R. E. (Director of Religious Education).
