Liturgical Ministries
Participation in the lay ministries at Queen of Peace Parish is one vital component of our parish life and provides opportunities for fuller participation within the parish family. New members for these ministries are always encouraged and welcomed. If interested, please contact the parish office at 879-6793 for more information.
Eucharistic Ministers: Distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ during the liturgy or helping to bring Communion to the hospitals, nursing homes and homebound on First Fridays and Sundays are opportunities in this ministry. Training is provided.
Lector: If you have a desire to proclaim the Word of God, an important part of our liturgy, your gifts would be appreciated by your fellow parishioners. A resource book and training are provided.

Altar Server: Service at the altar of God has long been a tradition in the Church. Parents are encouraged to allow their children to avail themselves of this opportunity. Regular training sessions are provided along with special activities.
Greeter/Gift Bearer: The role of the greeter is to welcome people to Queen of Peace as they come to worship with us. Extending the hand of hospitality says a great deal about who we are as a parish. As a gift bearer, representing our faith community by presenting the gifts to be transformed helps us all celebrate the Eucharist as a united family of faith.
Usher: The usher assists worshippers with seating or information as requested. The usher assists in the gathering of the weekly collection and also helps in emergency situations.
Sacristan: Service as a sacristan allows the Church’s liturgical functions to proceed in a smooth and organized manner. Preparation of all items used in the liturgical celebration and maintaining the cleanliness of the vestments, linens, liturgical vessels, etc. of the sanctuary is an important service in a large parish.
Wedding Sacristan: Wedding sacristans help couples and their families at the wedding rehearsal and on the wedding day. The sacristan conducts the wedding rehearsal using the directions of the officiating clergy. On the wedding day, the sacristan assists in the organization of the ceremony.
Music Ministry: For those who want to use their gift of music to help in the celebration of Mass. For more information on becoming a part of this ministry, please call Mary Smith at 879-3837 or parish office at (218) 879-6793.
Prayer Ministry: As Catholics, we are people of prayer, and we know the power of prayer. Our parish offers a “prayer chain” or a joining of parishioners together in prayer on occasions when one is in need of the prayers of our community. Prayer requests are greatly welcomed and should be called in to our prayer chain leader, Lorraine Wappes, 879-2289.
